Notes on Learning Culture

Further #WorkingOutLoud on Learning Culture today. I think i have the six areas i want to focus on, shared here with a few notes. This is early stage work.

Capability – the purpose of Organisational learning, nature of capability (individual to collective), diverse capability, currencies of engagement, permeability of capability.

Spaces – learning, rehearsal and performance, dialogue spaces, spaces of difference and dissent, trusted space, the control of consequence, ownership and access, synchronicity

Communities – as sense making structures, formal vs social, discovery and membership, aspects of belonging, recognition and respect, social metacognition

Knowledge – the new nature of knowledge, codification vs dynamism, when good is good enough, the creation of meaning, the sharing of lenses, tacit and tribal knowledge, local to global, ownership and cost

Sense Making – conditions and support, contextualisation, systems and structure, dialogue – difference – dissent. Conformity, holding ambiguity, dominant narratives, mechanisms of failure, iteration and #WorkingOutLoud, vulnerability and other Social Currencies

Stories – levels of narrative, control of the story, change as a social movement, learning as narrative, story listening, trapped in stories, fracturing knowledge, learning as mosaic, your organisational libraries
