#WorkingOutLoud on Culture

I’ve been working on illustrations for the new Culture Explorer Programme that kicks off this week: this work is really about interconnection and practice, considering what culture is, how it forms (through stories and an understanding of power), and how it ‘spreads’.

Today i am just sharing a couple of illustrations: this first one is the entry question – what is culture. It ties into a later conversation about ‘waves of culture’ – hence the water!

This second illustration, which is about ‘Islands of Culture’, asks ‘where the edges lie’ and is really about the shoreline and the reefs that surround it. Just being able to ‘see’ that there is a culture does not mean that you can ‘reach’ it.

This is an evolving and rapidly iterating body of work: i am running three cohorts through it over the next six weeks and will adapt it as i go.
